The Bio Clock Woke Up Dowd

An insomnia scan of the NY Times led to this column from Maureen Dowd. Her reaction is much more global than my personal impact rant below.

I also noticed the "double standard" of only 10% of successful career men not having children compared to 49% of comparable women. Gosh -- those bright women not passing on their genetic potential...

Oh well.

Boo hoo.

I don't think it will matter. All children can be high performing. Popular wisdom is we only use 10% of our mental capacity anyway -- which makes everyone with normal function a potential genius. And the world's population is still growing. So I don't see a big brain drain anytime soon.

Plus I think Dowd overlooked the growing trend of single motherhood and adoption. Rosie, Jodie Foster, and Angela Jolie will inspire my generation with their alternative choices.
