The Media Mole

I have always been very cynical about the media -- although I believe their function is essential to preserving and perpetuating our republic.

Much as I think personal injury lawyers and huge punitive damage awards are essential to preserving the rights of the little man against the onslaught of billion dollar corporations who just don't give a *damn* no matter what their ads say.

Think Pinto and Big Explosions with Burning Families and "It would cost more to recall and fix than we thought we would have to pay in damages."

(Yes, I know many feel Ford got a bad rap -- but think about the 27 people who burned up in Pintos. In addition to being an awful way to check out, its terribly undignified.)

Anyway -- back to the media -- which has become scarily like corporate America -- and if you look at Who owns Who -- you realize they are corporate America.

They have been assimilated.

Which I really don't have a huge problem with -- there are the independents and now with the web -- it is hard to stifle any voice -- no matter how nutty.

Which brings me to the Media Mole.

Another just starting out blog, but it has potential -- with the disclaimer that this is my little brother's site, who as a TV news producer is another cog in the machine.
