Awesome Jane Austin

If you haven't caught Mannsfield Park -- its worth a watch. The lead is Francis O'Connor who you'll recognize as the mother from Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), if you look again.

The dialogue is awesome. Here is my favorite bit for your edification and delight:

Henry Crawford: But your eyes are so clear and unflinching, I beg you to look at me again. I am changed, Fanny Price. I am changed. I shall wait for you... till the end of time. My constancy shall prove that I am changed.

Fanny Price: It is your very changefulness that frightens me, Mr. Crawford.

Henry Crawford: You toy with me.

Fanny Price: No. Senseless as it is, my heart is still full of another.

Henry Crawford: Then I shall wait till it is free once more.

Henry is a rake who ultimately does not change and Fanny's eyes are fortunately that clear and unflinching. But its not all a parade of unrequited loves. There is fabulous back biting, infidelity, and a serious sub plot concerning slavery.
